Every number Watt2Buy shows — TCO, EMI, lifecycle CO₂, resale, Watt2Buy Score — is the output of a transparent model that uses publicly available inputs. It is not a binding quote from any OEM, dealer, lender or insurance company. Before you sign a loan, place an order or pay a booking fee:

• Get a written on-road price from the dealer (not just an SMS screenshot).
• Get a sanction letter from the bank/NBFC with APR, processing fee and amortisation schedule.
• Verify the road tax / registration / subsidy amount with the RTO or the state transport portal.
• Cross-check the insurance premium quote from at least two insurers (IRDAI-approved).

2. Sources we use (last updated April 2026)

• Fuel prices: PPAC (Petroleum Planning & Analysis Cell) + IOCL / BPCL / HPCL daily retail pages.
• Electricity tariffs: State DISCOM tariff orders (MERC, DERC, KERC, TNERC, etc.) + CEEW India residential tariff database.
• Grid emission factors: CEA Baseline CO₂ Database v19 + CEEW “India Electricity Scenarios” 2024 + IEA World Energy Outlook 2024 India case.
• Battery & embodied CO₂: IEA Global EV Outlook 2024 + ICCT “A Global Comparison of the Life-Cycle GHG Emissions of Passenger Cars” 2023.
• Subsidies & policy: FAME / PM E-DRIVE / state EV policy PDFs, cross-checked with SMEV / SIAM / NITI Aayog trackers.
• Insurance proxies: IRDAI Annual Report 2024 + Policybazaar / ACKO / Digit public rate cards.
• Bank rates: SBI, HDFC, ICICI, Axis, Kotak, Tata Capital official rate cards + BankBazaar / PaisaBazaar crawl.
• Resale / depreciation: Spinny, Cars24, Droom listing analysis + OEM certified-used programmes.
• Vehicle specs: OEM brochures, ARAI test-cycle certifications, and WLTP/MIDC disclosures where available.

3. Known limitations of the model

• Battery degradation is modelled as a linear curve calibrated to OEM warranty (~2%/yr SOH loss). Actual degradation depends heavily on DC fast-charging frequency, ambient temperature (Chennai ≫ Shimla) and depth of discharge.
• Grid greening follows CEEW/IEA central-case trajectories. If the grid decarbonises faster (or slower), EV operational CO₂ will differ.
• Fuel-price path assumes the user-set inflation %. Real-world crude shocks are not priced in.
• Resale curves are segment averages. An individual car’s resale depends on mileage, accident history, colour, service records and dealer network — we cannot capture this.
• Insurance is modelled as a % of IDV with declining IDV. Your actual No-Claim Bonus, add-ons (zero-dep, engine protect) and city (metro ≫ non-metro) will change the number.
• City generic fallback uses national-average DISCOM tariff + central fuel price; accuracy drops to ±8% outside the 30 launch cities.
• 2W / 3W TCO is in beta; you can browse and compare specs but the full financing / CO₂ engine for two- and three-wheelers is still being tuned.

If you spot a number that looks wrong — a stale fuel price, an outdated subsidy, a mis-listed range — please email netra@walawalkar.com with a screenshot and the corrected source. We prioritise data-quality fixes and typically push them within 48 hours.
